New Year's Eve I baby-sat my brother's children, Deanna 3 and Shawn 2. Shawn gets into everything and really needs to be surpervised at all times. I asked my brother what I should do when I need to feed Molly because I normally go into a private room, he said.."just feed her they will not even notice or care."
I asked his wife what to say just in case Deanna asks questions. She told me to say the following, "This is how you feed little babies..your mommy fed you and Shawnie this way untill you got bigger."
Ok...so the time comes to feed Molly. At first Deanna really does not notice what is going on because I am trying to hide the feeding and she was watching a movie. But when I changed sides it started.
Deanna: Umm....Shelby what are you doing?
Aunti Shel: I am feeding Molly
Deanna: (with a smirk on her face not knowing whether to laugh or not) Umm..nuh uh..what are you doing? Where her milk?
Aunti Shel: Yes, I am feeding her milk.
Deanna: Nun uh..that is your boobie!! Not milk.
Aunti Shel: Insert the story sister-n-law gave me.
Deanna: oh... Milk in your boobie.... oh
Aunti Shel: (very uncomfortable wishing this was not happening) Yes, Molly is getting milk. What is Spider-Man doing now?(refering to the movie..anything other than me)
At this point Deanna really wants to the see the milk..she is watching Molly feed so closely that her nose was almost touching me. She is looking above Molly's mouth, trying to look under her mouth..anything to see that milk.
Deanna: Molly is drinking milk....yeah...drinking milk.(still puzzled and not sure but wanting to believe)
I finish feeding her. But wait no Molly is not done and started to cry...
Deanna: Shelby...Give her that boobie!!! (loudly from across the room)
It was so uncomfortable and funny at the same time. Deanna never leaves my side so I knew my brother was wrong. The next day Deanna would follow me around and ask if it was time to feed the baby. When it was I had to make her leave the room..she would not even leave when her mom asked her to go.
A story to remember. There is no telling what she will tell people! :)
