What?! | August 24, 2005

So, if you're reading this, and you used to be a reader (when I used to post) you might be thinking....Wow! she posted something here? What could be so important that it sparked a post at this site?

Well, I'll tell ya....

I had a 3:30pm flight to Atlanta from Dallas yesterday. We were told that we would have a gate change because our plane was being removed from the gate for repairs. We got a new plane and a new gate and were on board around 4pm. We took off for Atlanta....a while into the trip we hear that there is a terrible thunderstorm hovering over the Atlanta airport causing delays in landing so we had to stay put where we were for a while so we didn't clog the airways and run into any other planes. I'm not sure how long we "hovered" in that space, but later we heard "we're not sure how long we'll have to wait our turn to land, so we need to go to Mobile to get some more fuel". About 20-30 minutes later the landing gear went down, the plane started to descend and just as we started to descend we heard the landing gear go back up and the plane went back up. About 20 minutes later we heard, "I'm sure you've noticed we aren't landing in Mobile...there were high winds and a thunderstorm with lightening there and decided it wasn't safe enough to land so we'll now be heading to Montgomery." By the time we landed in Montgomery it was 8pm (CST) - we had been on the freakin plane for four hours. About 1.5-2 hours more than it should take to get to ATL from DFW. We land in Montgomery, we aren't allowed to get off and the toilets are packed full so they recommend that we stop adding to the overflowing tanks. TWO hours later we had fuel and the captain had his new flight plan, but then we had to wait 30 more minutes while they checked things off of their list before we took off for ATL. By the time we landed in ATL it was 12pm (EST) - we had been on the plane for SEVEN hours. I checked into my hotel at 1:10 am. It was the longest day I've had in a really long time.

As much as I'd like to say I was pissed about the whole thing....I can't. I saw one of those Discovery Channel or National Geographic shows that discussed how planes crashed when they tried to land when the weather was bad, or when they flew into thunderstorms. It was enough to make me realize that it can be dangerous and the "sprites" from the lightening are very dangerous. I was glad the pilots had my safety in mind - even if it meant I was stuck on a plane (in the MIDDLE seat) for 7 hours.

WSB | March 22, 2005

I have to share this...

TLC will be airing "The Worlds Strongest Boy" this Sunday at 9 (EST I suppose). This boy is 11 years old and well....lets just say the photos they showed on tv looked like they had taken an adult mans body and put a photo of his head on top of it. It was just a little freaky...that's all.

*yawn* | March 15, 2005

Hi there! Its been a while since I posted here, so what's been going on?

I've been traveling a lot, and my baby has been sick. This past weekend we had beautiful weather, so Josh and I decided to pull up some of the bushes we had in the front beds and replace them with flowers. So, he got out the tow strap and pulled them out with his truck (just like he previously did at Kevin's house). After that, he tilled it up and the family took a trip to the landscape supply store and purchased several flowers. We (with the help of the baby) got all of them planted that afternoon and it turned out fabulous! I'm so pleased with the new look of our house. Its amazing how much of a difference it made.

This week I'm in TPA and have had a couple of long days, so I'm pretty tired tonight. I need to do some work, so I know I won't be going to bed anytime real soon. Its another early day tomorrow and I'm not scheduled to be back home until late into the evening.

I have yet to do our taxes.......I guess I'll be making a run to the Apple store when I get back in town to buy the program. Or...I'll get someone to do them for me.

Self-Esteem | February 10, 2005

I saw this post over at Sporty's today. And I saw that Oprah show last night too. I was sad for all three of those women who weren't happy with their looks. The one girl, yes girl, who was only 28 and has had 26 surgeries was waaaayyy more beautiful before she had all those surgeries. Her little sister described her as looking plastic, or like a clown. I completely agree - its exactly what I thought when I saw the promos.

Our country is obsessed with perfection. Its insane. All those hot celebs in magazines....we ALL know they don't look that perfect in real life. We ALL know that they were airbrushed to look that good. We ALL know that they had a team of people working on their hair and makeup. Yet, we ALL ignore the fact that we know that, and *wish* we looked like that.

Thing I Like | February 05, 2005

I have fallen for several new tv shows this season. Desperate Housewives, Lost, and Medium are my favorites. These are three shows in which I cannot miss an episode. Thank goodness for TiVo.

I like this new taco place down the street. Everything is made fresh each day. The tacos are expensive if you consider the restaurant a fast food restaurant (it does have a drive thru), but if you were to go to a nicer restaurant its probably comparable. And since they make their food fresh every day, and have homemade flour tortillas, its worth it. They even have an avocado cilantro salsa that's not too bad - this is a very positive statement coming from me....the girl who HATES cilantro.

I really like the Senseo Coffee Maker I got Josh for Christmas. Perfect cup of coffee every time! And fast too. Its just like having our old Bunn, but better in that we don't drink pots of coffee at a time. So the Senseo is perfect for us.

I like the photo of Jessica Simpson on page 12 of the current edition of "People". She's wearing low cut blue jeans, boots, and a brown leather vest (a scene from The Dukes of Hazzard movie). She looks really hot. Oh how I wouldn't mind looking half as good as her.

I like that I am going on a mini vacation next weekend to New Orleans with Josh, Merrin & Kevin. Its not that I'm overtly excited about going to New Orleans, but that I'm taking a day off of work and hanging out with some fun people. I like that we're also planning a real vacation with them in May. I'm very much looking forward to that week. Its going to be lots of fun.

I like that our friends Pat, Karen & Katie are coming over today to spend the day with us. You see, our babies are the same age, and we went to college together, and they are moving East so we won't get to see them near as often as we do now. Its sad, really. But I'm happy for them.

I like the Whites Tree Frog my niece and nephew gave me for my birthday.

I like love that I'm home spending time with my husband and my baby.

Its My Birf-day | January 27, 2005

I received my birthday gifts from Josh last night (a few days early) since I'll be out of town on the actual day. He got me the two things I wanted...this and this. Mmmmmmm! Thanks baby!

It's a Private Thing | January 21, 2005

So, a while back I asked Josh to set us up with a password protected weblog. I don't know...but for some reason, I got to where I didn't like the thought of complete strangers knowing all about me and my life. And I wondered if people I did know, that I didn't tell about my weblog (my parents), had found my weblog and was reading. I can't erase the past, but I can change the future. I haven't decided if I will quit this weblog all together or not. I don't post much anymore, and quite honestly don't have many readers anymore because of it. That's okay, I wasn't really posting for traffic as much as I was posting as a way to have an outlet for my thoughts.

Anyway, over at the new place I'll most likely be posting about my life as a mom and lots of things about my child. For now, its his "firsts". If you are interested, and I *know* you, let me know and I'll gladly give you access. I even let my parents know about this one. *wink/smile*

Who? What? Where? | January 12, 2005

Me. Work. FL and GA.

Out of the first two weeks of this month, I will have seen my husband and my baby for all of four full days, and a very small portion of two Fridays, and a little bit smaller portion of two Mondays. I can't wait to get home this Friday. I was hoping to get home early and pick up the baby from daycare, but I don't know yet if that will happen. We'll see. If not, I'll at least be home when he and Josh come home and I'll be able to play with him, feed him, and rock him to sleep.

After being gone from him last week, and spending my first full day with him on Saturday, I found he was getting a tooth! Of course, they don't take long to come in once you notice the translucent gum, so the actual tooth is coming in this week while I'm gone. :o(

Seriously? | January 03, 2005

I was at my parents house this weekend, and yesterday my dad had the tv on Fox News - Fox & Friends and they were reporting on the Tsunami disaster. I heard the reporter say something about someone accepting donations to aid the disaster relief, and I looked up at the tv and it was a freakin YAHOO email account! WTF? It was some chicks name followed by a couple of numbers followed by yahoo.com!! I would NEVER donate money for something such as this, to someone I don't know, much less someone I don't know who has a yahoo account. And I'm seriously bothered by the fact that Fox was reporting this. What were they thinking? I really hope it was me...not paying close enough attention to the tv.
