Firebird (the Database Server)

I decided to give Firebirda try. The software that I currently work with uses Interbase as its database server. Firebird is basically the open source version of interbase. It worked like a charm for Win2k and more importantly on Linux.

I can now run my databases on a linux server. Of course I need to test this before I move it into a production environment, but its looking reall good. Here are my notes if your interested:

Firebird Setup for Windows 2000
Firebird Setup for Linux

Also for the users coming here in the future from google.
Yes Soft Tech V6 Manufacturing Software works with Firebird running on linux. If all goes well this could be a huge cost saver over running an interbase server or having to run a Microsoft SQL server.
