“mtop (MySQL top monitors a MySQL database showing the queries which are taking the most amount of time to complete. Features include ‘zooming’ in on a process to show the complete query and ‘explaining’ the query optimizer information.”
Looks like this could be a handy tool. So i download and untar. perl makefile.PL, whoops I’m missing curses a short so its time to read the README. Thats a nice readme with links to all the modules you need for perl. So I download the Curses module, untar ,etc. I can get it to make. So I jump into a CPAN shell in perl to try it that way, and i get the same thing CursesFun.c:3472: warning: initialization from incompatible pointer type
make: *** [Curses.o] Error 1. So now i dig into the INSTALL file, looking at the different bits, try to create my on config file like it suggests. And nothing works. So I just wasted 15 minutes of my time. This might be a good package, but I’ll never know, at least for a while. I guess I can pursue the net to try to get it going if I decide I really need it later.
Update: Ok so i did some more research this post will help you get perl-Curses installed on Red Hat 8.
I did get lots of warnings will compling perl-Curses then more when compiling mtop. But it still works and seems pretty cool.
