Slackware 8.1

I just saw over at SlashDot that Slackware 8.1 is out. Add that to the download list :). Slackware was my first version of Linux to ever install, and if i rember correctly it took me several days to figure it all out. That was a long time ago.

Slackware was the first Linux distro I ever played with too. It was a long time ago, and I’ve moved on to redhat or just BSD since. I remember needing about 50 floppies to save all the parts of the distro I thought I needed. What a pain in the ass, but the learning experience alone was worth it.

I agree, the learning experience was well worth it. Ever since that point, it has never
    been as difficult again.
